This artwork explores spontaneity and experimentation, capturing the unexpected results that emerge when interacting playfully with a scanner. By embracing glitches and distortions, the piece highlights how mistakes and chance can create unique visual effects, turning the act of “messing around” into a form of creative expression.

My idea evolved as I reflected on the women in eswatini, realizing that they are the true pillars of society. In many cultures, including my own, kings cannot rule without the guidance of mothers and grandmothers. Women are the foundation, the silent architects of communities.
I chose to create a stamp because stamps are miniature artworks that capture the essence of a time, place, or story. Though small, they are powerful — much like the women I sought to honour.
Through my print, “Wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo”, which translates to “You strike a woman, you strike a rock,” I celebrate the strength, resilience, and unshakable power of women. This iconic phrase comes from the South African women’s anti-apartheid movement and continues to resonate today. My work is a tribute to the cultural legacy, strength, and enduring spirit of the women who shaped me and continue to shape our societies.
